Selected Projects – Refit & Rebuild

Tramuntana Yacht Management has been involved in refits and technical projects on yachts ranging from 30m to 163m, including
vessels originally built by shipyards such as Lürssen, Feadship, Oceanco, Amels, Heesen, Perini Navi and Blohm+Voss.

Since being based in Mallorca, Tramuntana Yacht Management has been involved in several successful refit and technical management projects. Among these, one stands out distinctly: the well-known rebuild of the 73-metre legendary Lürssen motor yacht Coral Ocean.

This project represents the largest refit/rebuild ever completed at STP Shipyard, Palma de Mallorca, executed through a self-managed project team created specifically for the rebuild by Ahoy Club and led by Oscar Palos. Operating effectively as a mini shipyard within the yard, the team was assembled from scratch and scaled to meet the demands of a complex, time-critical programme.

Between 2020 and 2022, Oscar acted as Project Manager and Owner’s Representative throughout the refit and subsequent full rebuild, overseeing design development, technical coordination, cost and change management, quality control and commissioning. The project required the coordination of a multidisciplinary team of up to 15 professionals and more than 200 specialist contractors, representing an investment of approximately €35 million.

Completed in 2022, the rebuild delivered a fully modernised, charter-ready yacht. The quality and scale of the transformation were later recognised with the Judges’ Special Award at the 2023 World Superyacht Awards for its extensive refit/rebuild.

The most recent major yard period in 2025/2026 was a six-month refit at STP Shipyard. Several substantial works were self-managed, including the replacement of the Quantum stabilisers with the new Quantum XT system, renewal of main engine exhaust silencers, and the removal and complete overhaul of gearboxes and alternators, along with additional mechanical, electrical and systems upgrades.

By managing these works outside a closed, full-service shipyard model, the owner achieved significant cost savings while maintaining full technical
control and transparent decision-making.
